Chris Dulabone

Chris Dulabone combined writing and illustration with a long engagement in L. Frank Baum's imaginary country, becoming a distinctive American contributor to modern Oz fiction. Abducted to Oz, written with Robert J. Evans, follows a new adventure within that inherited world and belongs to juvenile fantasy. Dulabone was born in 1964 and died in 2020. His Oz work began unusually early, with stories conceived in childhood later leading to published titles and recurring characters. Across his bibliography he wrote, edited, illustrated, and sometimes published books by other participants in the wider Oz community. That combination makes collaboration central to his career rather than incidental to one volume. Abducted to Oz belongs to a tradition of writers extending Baum's setting through new journeys while retaining recognizable places and conventions. Dulabone's role connects fan scholarship, visual imagination, and original storytelling in a body of work built over several decades.
