Chuck Black is an American author of Christian adventure fiction who developed his Kingdom Series from stories first told to his children. A former fighter pilot and tactical communications engineer, he brings military structure and questions of loyalty into medieval-style allegories written for younger readers and families. Kingdom’s Hope is the second book in the six-volume Kingdom Series. Multnomah published the current edition in 2006 for readers roughly nine to twelve, while the story continues directly from the escape described in the opening volume. Leinad and the people of Arrethtrae reach Chessington Valley, where prosperity tests their memory of the King and their commitment to his code. Black designed the sequence as a broad biblical parallel, with knights, kingdoms, and battles carrying symbolic meaning rather than functioning as magic. The novel therefore works best in series order, where its movement from deliverance to responsibility forms part of one continuous narrative about courage, discipline, faith, and service.
