Amanda Foody
The Shadow Game books drop a missing mother, a con artist and a card sharp into New Reynes, a city assembled out of jazz-age New Orleans and Weimar Berlin, where the street gangs and the politicians turn out to be the same people in different coats. Ace of Shades opens it, King of Fools widens it into a gang war, and Queen of Volts turns the whole thing into a lethal game with rules nobody chose. Foody studied accounting and worked in it while writing. All of Us Villains, a separate series built on a blood-magic tournament, is written with Christine Lynn Herman.
