Claire Andrews
Daughter of Sparta hands a Spartan woman the quest structure normally reserved for a male hero, sending her after nine stolen relics with Apollo attached as an unwanted travelling companion. Andrews worked in software and wrote it around the job. The Greek material is treated as a religion people actually practised, with obligations and consequences, instead of a bag of names to sprinkle over a plot, and that is the whole difference between the good and bad ends of this shelf.
