D.S. Kane is the name David Spiselman puts on his espionage fiction. He taught finance at NYU's Stern Graduate School of Business for more than ten years and wrote A Teenager's Guide to Money, Banking and Finance, which Simon & Schuster published in 1987. By his own account he also spent over a decade in covert intelligence, keeping his real name and his faculty post as cover while travelling for government clients, large banks and corporations. The Spies Lie thrillers began in 2014 with Bloodridge. Swiftshadow, third in the run, follows Cassandra Sashakovich, an economist and hacker who fed false financial data to armed groups on an agency's behalf until a mole inside that agency exposed her. Hunted, then dropped by her employers as a liability, she sets out after both. Kirkus reviewed it and likened her to Lisbeth Salander.
