Linda Howard
Linda Howington had been writing for her own satisfaction for about twenty years, and holding down a job at a trucking company, when she decided in 1980 to try for publication; Silhouette issued All That Glitters in 1982 under the name Linda Howard. Romantic suspense became her territory. Kiss Me While I Sleep, from 2004, closed a trio of espionage novels that had begun with Kill and Tell in 1998 and All the Queen's Men the year after. Shadow Woman, out in 2013, starts with a woman waking to a face in the mirror that is not her own and two years of her life missing. Alabama has been home throughout, from her birth there in 1950, and she was a charter member of Romance Writers of America, serving as a regional director until 2008. That body gave her its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
