Damien Lewis
1971
This is the war reporter, not the actor whose name is spelt Damian. Lewis covered Africa, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, some of it undercover, and then turned to writing military history at book length. Zero Six Bravo reconstructs a British special forces squadron sent into northern Iraq in 2003 and hunted across the desert. Agent Josephine is about Josephine Baker, who used her celebrity and her tours to carry intelligence for the French resistance with the notes written in invisible ink on her sheet music. He has co-written memoirs with survivors of Darfur and of slavery in Sudan, and campaigns on both.
