Frome, in Somerset, is where Dandy Smith writes, and Bath Spa University is where she trained, taking a first degree, working as a rights manager for a small publisher, then returning for an MA in creative writing. One Small Mistake, her first novel, came from Embla Books in December 2021 and was later published in America by Kensington. Elodie Fray, its central figure, has left her job to write a book, lets a drunken lie about a publishing deal harden into something everyone believes, and then disappears, leaving her capable sister Ada to work out which parts of her life were true. Three standalone thrillers have followed: The Perfect Match, The Wrong Daughter and The Wedding Vow.
