For nine years from 2000 Jackie Kabler reported for GMTV, filing from the Athens Olympics, the Soham case and the search for Madeleine McCann. She had reached television by an odd route, with a zoology degree from Trinity College Dublin and a first job at the Commonwealth Agricultural Bureau behind her, then regional television newsrooms in the Channel Islands and the West Country. Since 2013 she has presented on the shopping channel QVC, writing crime novels alongside it for the HarperCollins imprint One More Chapter. The Perfect Couple, published in 2020, drops Gemma into a Bristol police station after her husband Danny disappears, at a moment when a killer is at work on men who look very much like him. The Happy Family followed in 2021: Beth was ten when her mother Alice walked out, and Alice is now back on the doorstep asking to be let in. Kabler was born in Coventry in 1966 and lives in Gloucestershire.
