Daniel Farcaș is a Romanian-born memoirist whose writing draws on childhood under Nicolae Ceaușescu's communist regime. God’s Buried Children grew from journals describing orphanage life, homelessness, and survival among children living in Bucharest's streets and underground spaces. The book is presented as testimony instead of a conventional novel, connecting one child's experience to the broader history of institutional neglect and political violence in late communist Romania. CreateSpace issued a 274-page edition in 2016, and the National Library of Romania catalogued it under Romanian orphans, communism, and biographical writing. Farcaș wrote the account in English after leaving Romania, turning memories recorded across many years into a sustained narrative. The result is inseparable from its first-person origin: its subject is not an imagined crisis but the author's effort to describe events he says he endured and the children who shared that environment. God’s Buried Children therefore belongs to memoir, survivor testimony, and the social history of Romania's abandoned youth.
