Daniel M. Ford

Daniel M. Ford teaches English and writes American fantasy that combines formal magic with the practical demands of community life. The Warden opens his Tor series with Aelis de Lenti, a newly trained necromancer assigned to the remote village of Lone Pine. Her education has prepared her for magical research, yet the post requires diplomacy, local trust, and action when an unfamiliar threat reaches the frontier. Ford previously wrote the Paladin Trilogy, and his classroom experience gives his fiction a clear interest in institutions, inherited expectations, and people learning beyond formal instruction. The Warden balances its larger mystery with the daily responsibilities that gradually bind Aelis to her new home.
