Deborah Curtis is the writer of Touching from a Distance, her memoir of her marriage to Ian Curtis, singer and lyricist for Joy Division. First published by Faber and Faber in 1995, the book later appeared with the subtitle Ian Curtis and Joy Division. It covers his life from adolescence through the band’s rise and includes a discography, concert list, and lyrics. Curtis also served as a co-producer of Control, Anton Corbijn’s film based in part on the memoir, extending her role from firsthand chronicler to an important participant in the screen adaptation.
