Bif Naked
Bif Naked is a Canadian singer, songwriter, performer, and memoirist born in India and raised in North America. After fronting underground bands including Gorilla Gorilla and Chrome Dog, she built a solo career associated with alternative rock and punk-inflected performance. I, Bificus recounts that path alongside her adoption, childhood, touring life, relationships, encounters with illness, and determination to establish herself in a male-dominated music industry. HarperCollins first published the memoir in 2016, pairing its title with the name of her 1998 album while using the comma to distinguish the book. The narrative extends beyond a conventional music memoir by connecting public performance with private survival and self-invention. Bif Naked’s experience as both songwriter and stage performer shapes the book’s direct voice and its attention to how an artist constructs identity. I, Bificus also provides prose context for the independence and resilience that recur throughout her recordings and public career.
