Titanic: The Long Night follows two girls aboard the ocean liner in April 1912. Elizabeth Farr travels in first class, while Katie Hanrahan makes the crossing in steerage, so the disaster reaches them through sharply different surroundings and expectations. Their parallel stories keep the human experience of the voyage in view as the ship's fate becomes unavoidable. The book appeared from Scholastic in 1998, and Hoh later returned to surviving characters in Remembering the Titanic. That sequel turns from the voyage itself to grief, memory, and the challenge of living afterward. Julia Whelan performs the audio edition of the first book. Hoh is also associated with teen suspense series including Nightmare Hall and The Med Center, but her Titanic novels use a documented historical event rather than a contemporary campus or medical setting to test loyalty, courage, and class boundaries.
