Donald Margulies
Donald Margulies writes plays that place public roles beside private relationships. Time Stands Still centers on a photojournalist and a foreign correspondent reconsidering their shared life after years of reporting from dangerous places. The four-character drama premiered at the Geffen Playhouse in 2009 and reached Broadway in 2010 under Daniel Sullivan's direction; it received a Tony nomination for Best Play. In 2000, Dinner with Friends earned Margulies the Pulitzer in Drama; the comedy follows two couples confronting the breakdown of a marriage. Yale now lists him as a professor in the practice of English and Theater Studies, with playwriting among his courses. Across these works, dialogue carries questions about vocation, loyalty, and how people narrate change to one another.
