Douglas Murray

Murray published a biography of Lord Alfred Douglas at twenty and has been an associate editor of the Spectator for years. The Strange Death of Europe argues that mass immigration and a loss of civilisational confidence are ending Europe as it was, and it sold in very large numbers. Critics, some of whom share his politics, say the argument sits close to the great replacement idea while declining to own it, and that the book treats a continent as though it were a single culture. The Madness of Crowds turns the same method on identity politics. He is gay and writes as a defender of a secular liberal order he says is being taken apart from both sides.
