Edwin Dasso

Edwin Dasso is a physician and novelist who draws on decades of clinical work to build medical mysteries around practitioners and patients. Past Aghast belongs to his Jack Bass Black Cloud Chronicles and makes the veteran doctor the focus of an inquiry in which professional knowledge does not protect him from suspicion. Dasso trained in anesthesiology and critical care, experience that informs the hospital settings and ethical conflicts across his fiction. He began publishing Jack Bass stories in 2012 and continued the character through titles including Death Target and Death Hub. Dasso has described his aim of using recognizable medical situations while giving readers a fast-moving mystery rather than a textbook account. Past Aghast establishes Jack as a capable physician whose judgment is tested when evidence, memory, and institutional authority point in competing directions.
