Elle Jasper
Elle Jasper draws paranormal romance from Gothic fiction and Savannah's historic atmosphere. Eventide occupies the third place in the Dark Ink Chronicles and continues tattoo artist Riley Poe's transformation after a vampire attack. The 2012 story sends Riley to Romania with Eli Dupre as new abilities threaten her remaining humanity. The journey takes them toward the fortified home of the vampire group responsible for her condition, while rival loyalties make trust increasingly difficult. Eventide follows Afterlight and Everdark, so its relationships and supernatural rules develop an established sequence rather than begin a separate story. Jasper's stated reading influences include Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, and Stephen King, a lineage visible in the novel's mixture of romance, old architecture, and bodily change. Eventide shows Elle Jasper moving Riley beyond Savannah while deepening the series' central question of what she may become.
