Eric Arvin built his career through novels whose fiction often combined humor, self-examination, and relationships formed in small communities. Galley Proof follows writer Logan Brandish, whose quiet routine changes when Brock Kimble becomes the editor of his next book. Logan's manuscript difficulties and growing feelings for Brock develop together, making the publishing process part of the character conflict rather than simple workplace scenery. Dreamspinner Press issued the English edition in 2012, while Belgium's national bibliography records a later French translation and identifies Galley Proof as its original title. Arvin studied history at Hanover College and set several works in fictionalized versions of the Indiana river valley he knew. His bibliography also includes Woke Up in a Strange Place, Simple Men, SubSurdity, and The Rest Is Illusion.
