Farah Naz Rishi

Farah Naz Rishi is a Pakistani American writer and voice actor whose debut novel combines speculative fiction with a contemporary story about family and regret. I Hope You Get This Message begins when Earth receives a transmission saying that an extraterrestrial committee will decide the planet’s fate in seven days. The novel follows three teenagers: radio enthusiast Adeem, who is searching for his estranged sister; Cate, who wants to find the father she never knew; and Jesse, who turns his late father’s machine into a public message service. Quill Tree Books, a HarperCollins imprint, published the novel in 2019. Alternating viewpoints and transcripts from the distant committee let Rishi examine responsibility, forgiveness, and how private choices change under a shared deadline.
