Felicia Day
1979
After preschool and a single year of first grade, Felicia Day was taught mostly at home, with one short spell at an academy her mother withdrew her from. She was admitted to Juilliard's pre-college programme at fourteen, turned it down, and took a double degree in mathematics and violin performance at UT Austin, finishing at nineteen. Acting work followed, then The Guild, the web series she wrote, produced and starred in from 2007, built around six players of an online game who can barely tolerate each other in person. Embrace Your Weird (2019) is a workbook rather than a memoir: it sets exercises against perfectionism, envy and creative paralysis, and expects the reader to write in it.
