Felix R Savage
Felix R Savage constructs science-fiction adventures from engineering problems, space travel, and first-contact suspense. Freefall, coauthored with Bill Patterson, opens the four-volume Earth's Last Gambit sequence with astronaut Jack Kildare aboard the International Space Station. Images reaching the station appear to show a spacecraft near Europa, while an unexplained signal pushes the crew toward discovery beyond orbit. First issued in 2016, it establishes the Spirit of Destiny project and a crisis continued through Lifeboat, Shiplord, and Earth's Last Gambit. Savage builds the story around the limits of machines and judgment, using the station's environment to keep a question immediate. The result sits between hard science fiction and a technothriller: orbital systems and uncertainty matter, but so do divided loyalties, imperfect evidence, and decisions made before humanity understands what has arrived.
