Flavia Brunetti
Flavia Brunetti is an Italian writer whose fiction and essays repeatedly examine place, migration, memory, and identities formed across countries. All the Way to Italy follows Little, a California-based writer who returns to the country of her birth after her father’s death leaves her with a partial letter, uncertain memories, and unresolved questions. Travelling through Italy with help from her aunt Sira, she encounters family histories that connect present-day movement with earlier generations and wartime experience. The novel was published in 2018 and described as a modern story of homecoming. Brunetti grew up between Rome and California and later lived in several other countries, experiences that inform her interest in belonging and cultural fragments. She has worked for a humanitarian organization and published short fiction and nonfiction as well as longer work. The Web of Time turns toward fantasy for younger readers while retaining an international setting. All the Way to Italy establishes the themes that recur across her writing: travel, inherited memory, and the complicated meaning of return.
