Florence Holbrook

Florence Holbrook (1860–1932) was an American educator, author, suffragist, and peace activist who spent more than fifty years in the Chicago public schools, including a tenure as principal of the Forestville School. She wrote widely used classroom readers, many built around mythology and folklore for young children. Later in life she sailed on Henry Ford's Peace Ship expedition and served on John Dewey's 1929 commission studying Soviet education.
