Gene Doucette

Gene Doucette uses science-fiction premises to place recognisable people inside unfamiliar circumstances. His work includes the self-published Immortal novels and Fixer, while Harper Voyager published The Spaceship Next Door, the opening Sorrow Falls novel. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt published The Apocalypse Seven through its John Joseph Adams Books imprint in 2021. That novel begins with seven strangers discovering an overgrown, nearly empty Massachusetts and trying to understand what transformed it. Its ensemble cast lets the story move between immediate survival and the speculative mystery behind the changed world.
