George Palmer Putnam

George Palmer Putnam combined publishing, writing, and exploration in a career whose books ranged from regional travel to public debate about expression. In the Oregon Country records journeys through Oregon, Washington, and California, mixing outdoor observation, local history, and impressions of a rapidly changing western landscape. The travel narrative first appeared in 1915 and later editions carry the fuller subtitle Out-doors in Oregon, Washington, and California, Together with Some Legendary Lore, and Glimpses of the Modern West in the Making.
