Gerard Manley Hopkins

Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844-1889) was an English poet and Jesuit priest who converted to Catholicism under Newman's influence and taught classics in Dublin. He published almost nothing in his lifetime. Three decades after his death, his work reshaped what English poetry could sound like.
