Siegfried Sassoon

Siegfried Sassoon (1886-1967) was an English poet and prose writer and one of the leading literary voices of the First World War. Awarded the Military Cross for bravery, he stunned the public in 1917 by openly denouncing the conflict. His Sherston memoirs remain classics of the period.
