Hannah Morrissey

The Widowmaker opens in an invented Wisconsin city under snow, with a photographer sent to shoot a charity gala who finds herself among the family at the centre of a disappearance sixteen years earlier. Morrissey writes atmospheric crime in which the cold does genuine work in the plot instead of decorating it. She is from Wisconsin and worked in her family's funeral business, which is where the bodies come from. She is no relation to Di Morrissey, the Australian novelist.
