Hannah Voskuil creates middle-grade fantasy shaped by art, friendship, and historical mystery. The Art of Magic follows new friends ZuZu and Andrew after they find enchanted art supplies at Mapleton Mansion and discover that their drawings can become three-dimensional creations. Published by Carolrhoda Books, the novel treats creativity as both a source of delight and a responsibility, while friendship and resentment shape how its magic is used. Voskuil prepared an activity guide for readers aged nine to thirteen, extending the story's central idea into a collaborative drawing exercise. She holds a BA from Middlebury College and an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College. Her earlier children's novel, Horus and the Curse of Everlasting Regret, also joins contemporary young characters with an unusual historical mystery.
