Hayley Campbell

All the Living and the Dead is reported from inside the death trades: an embalmer, a crime scene cleaner, a headsman, a gravedigger, a bereavement midwife, a man running a crematorium. Campbell grew up around the cartoonist Eddie Campbell while From Hell was being drawn, so mutilated bodies were on the kitchen table as artwork before she was ten, and the book begins there. She is honest that the reporting damaged her, which books of this kind normally leave out.
