Heidi Cullinan
Heidi Cullinan writes romance around characters learning to revise the futures other people have chosen for them. Fever Pitch, the second Love Lessons novel, follows Aaron Seavers and violinist Giles Mulder as they leave a hostile hometown for college. Music gives Giles direction, while family pressure and earlier harassment complicate the pair’s tentative relationship. Second Hand belongs to the shared Tucker Springs universe and was co-written with Marie Sexton. It pairs Paul Hannon, stranded after his fiancée leaves, with pawnbroker El Rozal, whose cynicism about relationships is challenged by Paul’s kindness and confusion. The two books use different communities, a campus and a Colorado town, to explore how affection can unsettle inherited expectations. Cullinan’s official series pages identify Fever Pitch as book two of Love Lessons and Second Hand as a Tucker Springs story. The latter’s joint byline is essential: Sexton shares authorship, while Riptide Publishing issued the first edition and Dreamspinner Press later published a revised edition.
