Henry Charles Moore was a British author and journalist who wrote adventure stories for younger readers as well as historical nonfiction. Afloat on the Dogger Bank follows Charlie Page from a North Sea trawler into a larger journey involving Ching Wang and a concealed treasure, giving maritime work an entry point into international adventure. A contemporary Spectator review praised the freshness and vigour of the incidents while questioning parts of the premise. Moore's career also included editorial work for the Rangoon Gazette, Good Words, the Sunday Magazine, and the Record. His nonfiction Omnibuses and Cabs traced the history of hired road transport, while books such as The Dacoit's Treasure, Marching to Ava, and Under Jellicoe's Command extended his interest in travel, conflict, and public service.
