Hope Tarr is an American romance novelist whose books range across historical and contemporary settings. She studied English literature and education before completing graduate work in psychology, then worked in research and consulting alongside fiction. My Lord Jack was first published by Jove in 2002 and later returned in a Carina edition. The Scottish historical romance follows Jack Campbell, who carries out official sentences, and the spirited Lady Fiona during a period shaped by Jacobite loyalties. Their unequal social positions and opposing assumptions create the book’s central tension. My Lord Jack belongs to Tarr’s early historical bibliography, near The Journey and A Rogue’s Pleasure, rather than to her later contemporary Suddenly Cinderella sequence. The novel shows her interest in pairing strong social constraints with characters who cannot easily separate private judgment from public duty.
