Ife Oshun
Ife Oshun is a writer and former music journalist whose fiction draws on fantasy, popular music, and questions of identity. Blood to Blood begins the Angelica Brown series and follows a young performer whose family history brings supernatural danger into her musical ambitions. A later edition added the subtitle identifying it as the first Angelica Brown book, while Heart to Heart continues the sequence. Oshun studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University and worked in music promotion and radio at WBRU. She later wrote lyrics, interviewed musicians, contributed to publications including Vibe and the Boston Phoenix, and served in editorial and content roles for music websites. That professional background gives her fantasy a strong connection to performance culture rather than treating music as decorative scenery. Her bibliography includes tentacles, a short prequel connected to the series. Blood to Blood therefore combines youth fantasy with knowledge of publicity, artistry, and the pressures surrounding an emerging singer.
