Indu Sundaresan

Indu Sundaresan grew up on Indian Air Force bases, where stories of the country's rulers, palaces, and forts fed her imagination as a future historical novelist. After moving to the United States for graduate study, she earned degrees in economics and operations research before turning to fiction. Shadow Princess is the third volume of her Taj Trilogy, following The Twentieth Wife and The Feast of Roses. Princess Jahanara stands at its heart amid Mughal court politics after Mumtaz Mahal's death, extending Sundaresan's sustained fictional exploration of powerful women in seventeenth-century India.
