The Ex Games, written with Helen Cooper, became a New York Times bestseller in 2014, early in J.S. Cooper's self-publishing career. She was born and raised in London, moved to the United States at seventeen, studied history, and finished law school before concluding she would rather write romance than practise. Her catalogue now runs past eighty titles, mostly in linked series. Finding My Prince Charming and Keeping My Prince Charming belong to the Prince Charming books, while After the Ex Games and Four Week Fiance 2 are again joint work with Helen Cooper. Just So You Know, I Don't Work Fridays opened The Darling Campbell Sisters in 2023: Harriet Campbell loses her job at a coffee shop because of the banker Finn Joseph, and is then hired as live-in housekeeper to a billionaire, with Joseph as her employer.
