Jack Schneider

Jack Schneider studies how politics, culture, rhetoric and public information shape education policy. He is a historian and policy analyst at UMass Amherst, where he directs the Center for Education Policy. With journalist Jennifer C. Berkshire, Schneider hosts the education podcast Have You Heard and has co-authored two books. A Wolf at the Schoolhouse Door, published in 2020, examines political and commercial campaigns to weaken public schooling through privatization, reduced funding and altered governance. Their later collaboration, The Education Wars, continues that inquiry. Schneider has written six books in total, and his research has appeared in journals devoted to education history, policy and teaching. He also writes for general audiences in newspapers and magazines.
