James Drummond was an Irish Unitarian minister, theologian, and college principal whose scholarship focused on early Christianity and New Testament interpretation. He taught at Manchester New College and led the institution from 1885 to 1906, overseeing its move from London to Oxford. The Pauline Benediction gathers three sermons preached in the college chapel and first appeared in 1897. Some Thoughts on Christology originated as the 1902 Essex Hall Lecture, approaching a central theological question through historical and critical study.
