Footprints of Thunder, issued by Forge in 1995, sets off a time wave that swaps patches of the prehistoric world with patches of the present, so that an untouched block of New York City sits beside a meadow of grazing dinosaurs. James F. David is the pen name of James D. Foster, a psychologist who studied at Seattle Pacific University and took an MA and PhD at Ohio State. He taught at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, chaired the undergraduate psychology department there and later became dean of the School of Behavioral and Health Sciences. Footprints of Thunder was his debut and drew a warm notice from Library Journal. Seven more followed, among them Fragments (1997), Ship of the Damned (2000), Before the Cradle Falls (2002), Judgment Day (2005) and its sequel The Book of Summer (2008), while Thunder of Time (2006) and Dinosaur Thunder (2012) carried on the Footprints story.
