James Hay, Jr.

James Hay, Jr. (1881-1936) was an American journalist and novelist born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the son of a lawyer and congressman. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1903 and made his name in Washington newspaper work, reporting from the White House for the Washington Times and helping to found the National Press Club. In later years he turned to fiction, writing a string of detective and mystery novels, several of them built around the investigator Jefferson Hastings.
