Jared Chapman is an American author and illustrator known for picture books that turn simple childhood routines into visual comedy. In Vegetables in Underwear, friendly produce models many kinds of underclothes, from clean and practical pairs to deliberately silly ones, while baby carrots remain in diapers. Chapman's rhythmic text and bright, spare illustrations make the joke easy for preschool listeners to follow and repeat. Abrams published the original picture-book edition in 2015, followed by a board-book edition, and Scholastic later issued a classroom paperback for children roughly two to five years old. Chapman both wrote and illustrated the book, a dual role that lets the phrasing, page turns, expressions, and color choices work as one comic design. He later extended the same playful cast into books about suits, holiday underwear, costumes, and pajamas.
