Jeff Edwards

Jeff Edwards writes military and naval thrillers grounded in a 23-year United States Navy career. He retired as a chief petty officer specializing in antisubmarine warfare, bringing experience with sonar, weapons systems, and shipboard tactics to his fiction. The Seventh Angel is the second USS Towers novel, following Sea of Shadows and preceding Sword of Shiva. A revolt in southeastern Russia leaves a former Soviet hardliner in control of a ballistic-missile submarine and nuclear weapons. The destroyer USS Towers must move beneath the Siberian ice to stop an international blackmail scheme before launched warheads widen the crisis. The 2010 Stealth Books edition combines technical detail, collective naval response, and strategic escalation. It was selected for the 2012 Chief of Naval Operations Professional Reading Program. The Seventh Angel uses the returning ship and crew to emphasize coordinated judgment instead of centering one hero, reflecting Edwards's professional knowledge of how information and responsibility move through a naval team.
