Jess Zimmerman

Jess Zimmerman writes essays, fiction and prose poetry alongside her work as a freelance editor. Women and Other Monsters, published by Beacon Press in 2021, examines eleven female figures from Greek mythology and considers how qualities such as ambition, anger and hunger have been framed in stories about women. Zimmerman previously served as editor-in-chief of Electric Literature and founding editor of Archipelago. Her editorial history also includes Quirk Books and The Establishment, while her journalism and commentary have appeared through FactCheck.org, Grist and The Guardian. The range of those roles connects literary editing, cultural criticism and reporting in a career built across several kinds of prose.
