Jessica Hawkins
Jessica Hawkins came to the genre as a reader first, around 2012, and inside a year had written and self-published the Cityscape trilogy. Come Undone introduces Olivia Germaine, a married woman in Chicago, and David Dylan, the bachelor who unsettles the life she has built; Come Alive and Come Together finish what that meeting starts. Hawkins told an interviewer in late 2017 that she had brought out thirteen books in five years and that she was drawn to material the genre often steps around, infidelity above all. The publication introduced her that day as the queen of angst. Her later work includes the Something in the Way quartet, and she has appeared on USA Today's bestseller list. In 2020 she reissued the Cityscape books with new covers, revised text and an added epilogue, under the series name Cityscape Affair.
