Caught opened the Gemini Men trilogy for Kensington in 2008, with Kept following in 2009 and Unleashed after that; the three books turn on former military brothers who run a private security firm taking undercover jobs for wealthy clients. Jami Alden, who writes contemporary romance and romantic suspense from the San Francisco Bay Area, had begun the year before with Private Party on Kensington's Aphrodisia list, which specialised in explicit romance, and she returned to it with Private Paradise in 2011 and Private Pleasures in 2012. Beg for Mercy, the first of her Dead Wrong novels of romantic suspense, was published by Forever in 2011 and won the RT Reviewers' Choice Award for best romantic suspense.
