The novel uses Cassie’s account to examine privilege, memory and the stories relatives construct to protect one another. In 2022, Harper issued the novel. The Brooklyn Public Library then included it on the longlist for its Book Prize. Medoff’s five novels also include This Could Hurt and I Couldn’t Love You More. She earned a BA from Barnard College and an MFA from New York University, while her professional experience in management consulting has informed fiction about institutions and workplace relationships.
