Jitendra Nath Mohanty
Mohanty taught philosophy in India and then in the United States for decades, and belonged to a very small group equally at home in Husserl's phenomenology and in the classical Indian schools, reading both in their original languages. Classical Indian Philosophy lays out Nyaya, Samkhya, Vedanta and the rest as live positions with arguments that require answering, not as a religious inheritance to be admired from outside. He published on Husserl's logic, edited journals in both traditions, and died in 2023.
