A memory-removal company tells former clients that something was taken from them, forcing each to decide whether to restore it. Harkin braids several lives with the perspective of Noor, a psychologist inside the clinic, using the premise to examine identity, grief, technology, and ownership of intimate experience. She studied literature, became a full-time writer after a succession of other jobs, and lives in Berkshire, England.
