John Conroe
John Conroe picked up his daughter's copy of Twilight, concluded that vampires had no business sparkling, and began writing in the middle of a banking and financial planning career that ran some thirty years. His first attempt went nowhere. The second, God Touched, came out in 2010 and opened the Demon Accords, an urban fantasy sequence built around Chris Gordon that has since passed twenty volumes; Duel Nature, Fallen Stars, Forced Ascent and College Arcane all sit inside it. Conroe grew up the youngest of four in St. Lawrence County, in the far north of New York state, and studied economics and management science at SUNY Cortland. He has also produced the Zone War science fiction trilogy and the Shadows of Montshire novels. Snake Eyes, read by James Patrick Cronin, reached the Audie Award shortlist for fantasy in 2018; the prize went elsewhere.
